Today, in between two consecutive campaigns in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had a nine-minute conversation about the three main issues facing the current Lok Sabha elections: representation, inflation, and unemployment. Yadav began their conversation with a humorous statement, stating that the opposition's INDIA bloc is winning 79 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is only winning "Kyoto." This was a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's prior declarations that his home district of Varanasi would be transformed into Kyoto, a well-known scenic city in Japan.
